Mary Ann McKellar
Maine artist Mary Ann McKellar (formerly Mary Ann McKellar Schwartz) received a BFA in Drawing in 1976, a BS in Nursing in 1979, an MA in 1982 and an MFA in Printmaking in 1984, all from the University of Iowa. She also studied a year of Japanese and Western Papermaking with Tim Barrett in 1986. Her work has been shown all over New England and the Mid-West. She has taught Hand Papermaking at Haystack Mountain School of Craft in Deer Isle, Maine, at Columbia Center For The Book and Paper Arts at Columbia University in Chicago, Illinois, Paper and Book Intensive and has been a guest artist at Penland School of Craft in Penland, North Carolina.
These contemporary wool hooked rugs are pictorial celebrations of life in rural and coastal Maine.
