Artwork > Larry Moffet

Larry Moffet was born in Denver, Colorado and graduated from high school in Gladstone, New Jersey. He came to Maine in 1962 and began painting landscapes during the summer months. He moved to Deer Isle full time, following three years of college, in 1972. To support himself financially, he worked as a wooden boat carpenter from 1973 to the present. In 1979, he began lobstering in the summer and fall which gave him freedom to pursue his artistic interests in the winter and spring. He works with a variety of media including oils, watercolors, pastels, woodcuts, cut paper and silver. In 1992, he met William Holst, a retired art professor, who began tutoring him in the principles of modernism, changing his artistic vision.

Currently, Mr. Moffet’s artwork is in several private collections in the U.S. and abroad.
