HOLLY BERRY
Holly Berry (b. 1957) is a Maine-based printmaker and children's book illustrator, born and raised in Kennebunk. For more than 25 years, her relief prints have been exhibited in juried and invitational shows in galleries throughout Maine and beyond. Her award-winning children's book illustrations, done in watercolor and colored pencil, enjoy a national reputation. Berry's linoleum cuts are directly inspired by the animal life in the landscape around her rural home. The songbirds, frogs, insects and fish that inhabit her prints are at once particular and universal in their significance. Her compositions are heraldic, with gesturally vibrant animals often framed within dynamic interlace borders. She was recently recognized with an Individual Artists Fellowship Award from the Maine Arts Commission for her work in printmaking.
She received her BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1979, and did graduate work in Studio Teaching at Boston University.
