"The invitation of a tactile surface, the luminous capture of light and deep plunging of shadow, the reaching out from a center of mass to express a great volume are important aspects of my art in stone."
Andreas von Huene grew up in Boston's atmosphere of artists, musical instrument makers, and museums absorbing creativity of exquisite refinement. Through his experience in large-scale engineering and landscape construction projects, he expanded into the challenges and responsibilities of public art projects. Andreas received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an M.S. in Engineering from Stanford University.
"The enduring need to create is my adventure into giving form to ideas, observations, and understandings regardless of scale. In searching for ways to celebrate a subject or express a state of being I utilize observation, visioning, and three-dimensional modeling. Form and pose, material and finish, story and detail are the basic ways I conceive of a work."
