Galen Davis is a landscape painter working in pastel and oils. Born and raised in southern Maine, she has lived in Brooksville since 1998 and is a life-long summer resident of Isle au Haut.

While largely self-taught, Galen’s art education is comprised of many years of workshops and advice from artists dedicated to sharing knowledge.

Drawing inspiration from local land and sea scapes, Galen focuses on conveying a sense of mass in large coastal rock formations, producing certain color harmonies, and incorporating patterns of light and shadow. Design and composition are critical for Davis. Attending in this way to beloved landscapes allows for a particular intimacy with and understanding of place.
